There is very limited number of joints offering fast foods and cafés in Portugal, though traditional Portugal foods, along with some international brands like McDonald’s are found in the streets of Portugal. Besides, people in Portugal love wine along with food.
A lot of vegetarian friendly restaurants are coming up in Portugal with the popularity of vegetarianism. In fact in 1997, Lisbon was the European capital of vegetarian food. Portugal provides all kinds of basic vegetarian food to its visitors.
There are a number of restaurants found in Portugal, which along with good food also offer remarkable service and friendly environment. These restaurants offer lip smacking fish dishes along with grilled meat plates. The soups are also served in almost all the restaurants in Portugal, as it is very important part of their menu. The meal is always concluded with desserts, which normally comprises of pastry, which is based on ancient recipes by monks and nuns. The restaurants are generally crowded in the afternoon as the Portugal people consider lunch as their most important meal and try to have a big one. Most of the small restaurants in afternoon are crowded with the local workers. But there are number of expensive ones also, which provide a very good service.
