Eating in Portugal

Portugal is a seafaring nation consuming a great amount of fish and seafood. The fish, vegetables, olive oil and various spices are the basis of Portugal food. The most popular vegetables used in Portuguese cookery, include tomatoes, cabbage, and onions. Olive oil is used in Portuguese cuisine both for cooking and flavouring meals. Garlic is widely used, as are herbs such as coriander and parsley. Meat and poultry are not widely consumed on daily basis in Portugal.
Being a Latin country, the pleasure of eating is greatly enjoyed in Portugal. There are a variety of restaurants throughout the country offering quality foods of diverse kinds.
